Meet Poonam from India, who is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Emory University. Poonam has a health and medical sciences background, and throughout her career, she has primarily done research in the field of host pathogen interactions and quorum sensing. She has worked in various fields such as biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology. She was previously a researcher at Symbiosis International. 

Poonam looks forward to continued research in understanding pathogenesis and designing new therapeutic approaches. She plans to work in different labs with varying specializations and anticipates learning new techniques and enhancing her professional knowledge with peers from all over the world. Moreover, she plans to apply the skills and knowledge acquired to identify new molecules and to design unique therapeutic approaches.  Specifically, she wants to also understand the antimicrobial resistance issue across the world and wishes to create awareness of it.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Poonam loves  travelling, dancing, playing cricket  and cooking. She is also a fitness enthusiast and likes to run marathons.
